Gail in Poland – as regular as vacation. Why constantly July and August?

July and August are joyful months for polish kids when they check the date. With the last days of June they start the summer break. For their guardians it is relax time too – they constantly take a break in their activity cause it is marvelous moment to spend break in Poland. There is only one uncertain thing – local climate.

Ordinarily, after few days with 86-95 Fahrenheit degrees warm air near the Earth connect with cooler wind forthcoming from north. Together it is initiate colossal, one-two days long gale with lightning. Storm (known as “Derecho”) causes death of 10 people and 100 wounded. In Poland storms with lightning are seasonal phenomenon. Highest number of storms is in south part of country – in areas called Żywiecczyzna, Bieszczady Mountains and Tatra Mountains it happen almost 35 days per year. Lowest frequency is in the northern part – 20 days per year.

Other unusual matter are storms with hail. But what have to occur to create that of gale? 65 of 68 storms with hail happen when temperature was at least 15 Celsius degrees and atmospheric pressure is nearly 850 hPA. Second aspect of incidence of hail is proximity of weather front with equator and polar air masses. How can we be sure that our holiday won’t be disorganized by gale? Pick late August days or early June, choose another country for a course or take a fancy to winter rest.
